Sparks Practice - Heads

Trough different inspirations I lately felt like creating a new character that is more on the cartoony and silly side.
So, I'm presenting you the dragon "Sparks".

His name comes from the fact that he cant breathe fire as upon every try he creates only sparks. The reason is him being partly an alligator, although the dragon part is quite bigger. (Now don't ask me how that is possible ). So, thats why he also can't really fly longer distances. (Well, no wonder with those small wings. ) I imaged this character with a good, heartwarming personality, but he is also pretty forgetful and acts childish/silly often worried and confronted with the fact that he is not a true dragon.

I fuzzed around a lot with the colors and shapes (and still doing it)... This is some great practice! In this case mostly concentrating on facial expressions and head positions. They're pretty random to get a feel for the model. Some positions were pretty tough to do... It's still stuff work in progress but I would like to do some animation tests with him and draw him more often. Starting from top left I drew pretty much trough it to bottom right trying to be consistent with the model but some things probably changed trough the process. Snout size, etc.^^ Originally I didn't even intend to color it, but I felt like it helped me finding mistakes. So there is no shading because that is not the point of my studies now.
