i have been seeing that a lot lately, where cartoons look not just shoddy but morbidly creepily nasty... adventure time may be a little fun but it still looks a bit off (and a number of other cartoons ive seen that would have made my childhood nightmare filled... more than it was)
Well cartoons are always different from each other and have different artist working on them. Traditional is nice but is got expensive and since computers are common now it's a little more cheaper. I enjoy both old and new.
phineas and ferb may be interesting... but it seems that they r just focusing on abstract artists now. I mean look at the shape of the buildings, people's bodies, head shapes, etc. Disney is just hiring anyone who can make them money!
I feel that most of what's on DIsney isn't as good as the older Disney show like Darkwing duck and Timon & Pumbaa. But I do like phineas & Ferb. That is only cartoon worth watching on DIsney. Way better than Fish hooks.
In fact, the 90's western cartoons and Disney Classics are good while the newer cartoons looks more the simple characters than the anything. This is one of main reason I prefer realism style over the 2010's disney shows style.
...cheaper animation . all cartoons do this because people don't want to invent in cartoons any more. that why animation companies use flash or maya (computer graphic like toy story). quality goes down but you can produce more. once the ression ends and people want to make a good cartoon will see more shows that are done awesomely. like animaniacs, loony toons, ect. I'v notices that cartoons have lost there quality over the last 6 years.
I think one of the main issues is the fact that disney is losing it's touch. All of their styles have changed, they went from a family friendly channel to some little kid/tween channel. Although I don't think phineas and ferb is a good example because it the episodes actaully do have morals in the end, and the episodes are generally creative and new. A better example would be fish-hooks. It is a terrible tv-show that just takes some of lifes basic lessons and portrays them using fish. It's not very well thought out and I've seen it all before.
aah gummi bears ) I love them.. I remember the cartoon
and I completely understand what you wanted to say, it's sad though. Maybe the way they're changing their style is because kids of these days like more simple characters and style? something that is "unusual" and "crazy"... I see it that way, but I still like gummi bears more
I'm going to have to disagree with some of your points here. Sure, PnF is very simple and a lot of kids can draw the characters, but that's not the point. I think the Animation is pretty good. It's better than "Kick Buttowski" or that new Fish cartoon that's done in flash, now that's what I call lazy. At least, PnF is done by hand.
If Disney ever made the Disney Afternoon again, I'm pretty sure PnF would be on the list. Also, don't judge it. I did the same thing when I saw the promo on a magazine. Then I saw an Episode and I instantly loved it. Just because it's on the Disney Channel, doesn't mean it's going to suck. It's actually the only show worth watching.
When you guys say you miss the 90's cartoons. This show actually has a 90's feel to it. Plus, the two creators used to be writers on Rocko's Modern Life.
All the things you said may be true, but I didn't want to point out the content at all. I watched some episodes too and they are not very deep, but funny. However, the style and animation is really (if hand drawn or not) much more simple as from the gummi bears. Thats the only thing I wanted to point out with that pic though. Of course this pic lives also from the nostalgia bonus, but I think you're a huge PnF fan what I can see from your Doofenshmirtz icon^^
I don't think Disney's doing that great as of Today, As if their channel "The Disney Channel" is kinda having more shows aiming at the Teen audience, rather then the Kids Audience, Not to mention, They're having less Animated programs and having more and more Live action shows that focus on people based on Teenager Life.
Usually, "It's a Laugh Productions" is that so-called company that's producing all these Live action shows for The Disney Channel. I think Disney XD is also showing them too.
thing is, those shows aimed toward and about teenagers are not watched by most teenagers. they are watched by thier pre-teen siblings. teenagers have the sense to change the channel to cartoon network XD
